- Pure Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) Powder
Product Description
Facts: Ascorbic acid is highly reactive, and the most powerful and fast acting form of vitamin C. In humans, ascorbic acid is fast acting when taken orally because the ascorbic acid can be absorbed through the stomach lining directly into the blood stream. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin, meaning that your body doesn't store it. We get what we need, instead, from food. You need vitamin C for the growth and repair of tissues in all parts of your body. It helps the body make collagen, an important protein used to make skin, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and blood vessels. Vitamin C is essential for healing wounds, and for repairing and maintaining bones and teeth.

One of the better ascorbic acid offerings
Posted by Michael on Jul 11th 2024
So much of the ascorbic acid (aka Vitamin C) being sold today is derived from corn (maize), and often GMO corn, so definitely not organic. When i contacted this manufacturer, they said they didn't use corn for their stock. They used other vegetables sourced from the USA and Canada. Still not necessarily organic, but at least not GMO crops (which are genetically modified so they can withstand heavy herbicide use).
Something like > 80% of all vitamin C/ascorbic acid supplements are sourced out of China, so heavy metals and other contaminates are a concern. Quali-C, from DSM-Firmenich, is manufactured in Scotland, so is another China-alternative. I’m unsure of what they use as stock, however.
The package is resealable, but you must keep the tracks clean of powder. I pour off some portion of the powder into a glass jar, flick the top of the bag with my finger (to clear out the track, so it can be resealed), remove as much air as possible, reseal, then put the bag in my pantry until the next time when the glass jar runs low. Kept dry and not opened frequently, ascorbic acid will keep for a very long time (far longer than its sell-by date). Especially in humid environments. Using a smaller glass jar for daily use is the way to go.
Some people claim that ascorbic acid isn't vitamin C, but that's not quite true. Pure ascorbic acid lacks the natural bioflavonoids found in food, which complement its nutritional value and aids in bioavailability. Also, it is acidic and over time, it can take its toll on tooth enamel. As such, i always convert ascorbic acid into the buffered form of sodium ascorbate, by adding baking soda to my drink. It takes roughly twice as much baking soda as ascorbic acid. You'll know when you have the proportion correct, because it won't fizz anymore when you add additional baking soda. Of course you have to wait for it to stop fizzing first, before you can do this test.
I also like to add some bioflavonoid powder to my drink. This can be many different powders. You can really choose just about any powder which normally contains vitamin C, such as acerola, acai, camu camu, or other berry powders.
I also like to mix in other supplemental powders i take into this drink, and use it to wash down any pill-form supplements i have.
One other note: The body won't absorb any more than about 2 grams of vitamin C at any given time. Even if your system will tolerate much larger amounts without "bowel intolerance" (i.e. "the trots”). This was learned by nutritionally oriented doctors treating cancer patients with oral vitamin C, and doing blood plasma testing to analyze absorption efficacy. To get more than 2 grams of vitamin C a day orally, it had to be in multiple doses ≤ 2 grams each, spaced some number of hours apart.
I’m neither a doctor nor trained nutritionist. But i do a lot of reading of the literature. -

The Best Ascorbic Acid You Can Buy!
Posted by Robert on Sep 9th 2019
I am a 63 year od male. And have been using large bowel tolerant doses of Vitamin C now for well over the past 20 years. As per the advise of the late Dr. Robert Cathcart, Linus Pauling, and Dr. Klenner. This is non GMO C, and it works fantastic, at a very good price.

Best ascorbic acid I have found! Manufactured in the USA and tastes great, just don't get it on your teeth so you don't damage teeth enamel. Will continue to purchase!

I'm very happy with the quality of DualHealth supplements. I use Vitamin C for neutralizing chlorine after swimming as well as for supplementation. Shipment is fast and the price is fair.
